Submit buttons move records from one status to another, while Save buttons let users save work in progress without triggering validation or a status change. These buttons are configured after types and statuses have already been set up for a UTA/module. For field definitions and settings, see Save and Submit Buttons Fields and Settings Reference.

When to Configure UTA/Module Submit and Save Buttons
Configure UTA/module Submit and Save buttons when:
- Statuses have been configured, and it is time to define how records move through the process.
- Users need to save work in progress without triggering validation.
- The workflow requires records to move forward and backward through statuses.
Prerequisite
Types and statuses must already be configured. See Configure UTA/Module Types and Statuses for more information.
Create a Submit and Save Button
Submit buttons move records from one status to another. Save buttons let users save their work without triggering validation or a status change.
To create a Submit and Save button:
- Click the Menu icon in the upper navigation bar, and then select the relevant UTA/module from the Applications drop-down menu.
- Click the Configuration Settings gear.
- Click the Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 tab.
- Locate the General Settings section and click Submit and Save Buttons.
- Click the New Submit and Save Button [+] button.
- Click the Type field and select the applicable option.
- Click the Caption field and enter the applicable information.
- Click the Align to field and select the applicable option.
- Click the Available to Status field and select the applicable statuses.
- To prevent changes to retired records, do not select the Retired status.
- Add any remaining applicable information, and then click Save.
NOTE Color convention: green (Success) indicates buttons that move records forward, yellow (Warning) indicates reversals, and red (Danger) indicates destructive actions such as deletion. Forward-action buttons are typically placed on the right.
NOTE If the submit bar becomes crowded, a Button Group Name can be set to consolidate related buttons and save space.
NOTE To add a confirmation prompt before a submit action, toggle on Advanced Options and enable the custom confirmation alert or confirmation page.
