System Summaries are diagnostic tools in SmartSimple that give Global Administrators a consolidated view of system design configuration, security posture, performance, and active features.
Who: Global Administrator
What Are System Summaries
System Summaries are read-only diagnostic tools available to Global Administrators from Global Settings. Each summary provides a focused view of a different aspect of your SmartSimple site.
Four summaries are available:
- System Design Summary - generates a Word document summarizing your site's configuration settings.
- System Security Summary - provides a consolidated view of security measures and identifies items requiring attention.
- System Performance Summary - provides insight into your site's performance.
- System Feature Summary - provides an overview of active features in your site.
When to Use System Summaries
Use System Summaries to:
- Document your site's configuration for design review or auditing (System Design Summary).
- Assess your site's security posture and identify items requiring attention (System Security Summary).
- Investigate performance-related concerns in your site (System Performance Summary).
- Review which features are currently active in your site (System Feature Summary).
How to Access System Summaries
System Summaries are accessed from Global Settings in SmartSimple.
Click the System Administration gear in the upper navigation bar, and then select Global Settings from the drop-down menu. Click the System tab, locate the System Information section, and then click the applicable system summary.
System Design Summary
The System Design Summary generates a Word document summarizing your site's settings and configuration. Use it to document and audit your system design.
Available sections:
- Global Settings — includes Data Policies and Security Matrices.
- Workflows — includes settings for each individual workflow.
- Portals — includes portal details and user role configuration.
- UTA/module Settings — includes settings for each individual UTA/module, with an option to include Custom Fields.
Select the applicable UTA/modules within each section, then click Generate. The Word document downloads automatically to your computer.
System Security Summary
The System Security Summary provides a consolidated view of all system security measures and identifies any items requiring attention.
The summary page displays:
- A pass or fail result based on your current security configuration.
- Items flagged by severity level: High, Medium, Low, and Optional.
- A list of security features with their current status.
Security items requiring attention display a red caution icon under the Attention Required column. Items in use that do not contain any security flags display a green check mark icon. Click the URL icon next to any security item to navigate directly to the relevant configuration page.
For detailed definitions of all columns and page elements, see [Link: System Security Summary Field Definitions].
For step-by-step instructions on resolving flagged items, see [Link: Address Security Vulnerabilities Using System Security Summary].
System Performance Summary
This feature provides a system administrator with the list of configuration and reporting settings that may impact system performance. These include using any deprecated features, outdated or unused syntax, list views and reports. This also looks at portal settings and workflows to ensure that these are both still aligned with best practices for optimum system performance.
- Risk severity is categorized as high, medium, low and warning. All high and medium severity items need to be resolved in order to pass the system performance check.
- Performance indicators are tracked at the base platform, companies, users and UTA/module levels.
- A shortcut to the settings that need to be reviewed will be available next to the description of performance issues if any.
- Performance categories include business security, system security, usability, legacy applications, etc.
System Feature Summary
This feature displays a list of system features enabled in the current SmartSimple instance.
It includes information regarding ideal usage of the feature (recommended or optional), category (system security, user interface, audit, communication, integration, production, troubleshooting, data visualization, productivity, etc.), description of the feature, and a shortcut to access feature settings.
Security Implications
System Summaries expose detailed information about your site's configuration, security settings, and user data. Access is restricted to Global Administrators.
Review the System Security Summary regularly to identify and address security vulnerabilities. For instructions on resolving flagged items, see [Link: Address Security Vulnerabilities Using System Security Summary].
