Submit Logic defines the validation rules a record must pass before it is submitted. For field-level definitions of the settings, see Submit Logic Fields Reference.
NOTE Submit Logic is only applicable to systems that have not transitioned to SmartCheck Validation.
Who: Global administrators
When to Use Submit Logic
Use Submit Logic when:
- A record must meet conditions before it can be submitted, such as a required number of attachments or a non-empty reviewer comment.
- A confirmation message or confirmation page should appear after a record is submitted.
- Field changes on a status-locked record need to be captured in the revision history, using the Submit Annotation button type.
Access and Add Submit Logic
Submit Logic works together with submit buttons to define the rules that control submission. Each set of rules is tied to a specific status and submit button, so different statuses can control different sets of rules. From Level 1, submission rules can reference any Level 1 field, account and contact fields, and aggregated Level 2 or Level 3 fields. Values are validated in the order defined within the Submit Logic.
To add Submit Logic to a submit button:
- Click the Menu icon in the upper navigation bar, and then select the relevant UTA/module from the Applications drop-down menu.
- Click the Configuration Settings gear.
- Click the Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 tab where the submit button is configured.
- Locate the General Settings section and then click Submit and Save Buttons.
- Click the edit [pencil] icon next to the applicable submit and save button.
- Click the Submit Logic tab.
- Click New Submit Logic [+].
- Complete the applicable fields, and then click Save. For a description of each condition field, see Submit Logic Fields Reference.
NOTE This article covers basic Submit Logic validation using submit buttons. How submit buttons interact with SmartCheck validation is covered separately in SmartCheck Validation Overview.
