Quick Edit opens a pop-up box for modifying the record fields a user has permission to edit, directly from a SmartSimple List View, without opening the full record form. Users can update values in the pop-up box and save changes without navigating away from the List View. Quick Edit respects field-level validation rules, record lock status, and field-level edit permissions. Administrators control which fields are available for editing by selecting the columns that appear in Quick Edit mode.

How to Use Quick Edit
Use Quick Edit to:
- Make simple field updates to many records in quick succession without opening each record individually.
- Approve or decline applications quickly, entering the approved amount or declination reason as needed.
- Update a status, date, or single-field value on multiple records efficiently.
Validation Behavior
Quick Edit respects field-level validation rules defined in the record's custom field settings. If a value entered in Quick Edit mode fails validation, Quick Edit displays an inline error and does not save the change until the value is corrected. Quick Edit does not enforce required fields that are not visible in the column configuration during a save. It validates only the fields present in the Quick Edit view.
Record Lock and Quick Edit
If a record is locked, for example because it is in a workflow stage that restricts editing, Quick Edit will not allow changes to that record. Locked records display as read-only in Quick Edit mode. Lock behavior in Quick Edit mirrors the behavior on the full record form.
Field Permissions and Quick Edit
Quick Edit also respects field-level edit permissions independently of Record Lock. If a user does not have permission to edit a specific field, Quick Edit will not allow changes to that field, even if the user has permission to edit the record under Record Lock.
Field Visibility and Quick Edit
Not all fields configured on a record form are available for Quick Edit. Administrators select which fields appear as editable columns in Quick Edit mode. In Quick Edit mode, fields not included in the column configuration display as read-only text in the list. Quick Edit may not support fields that use complex input controls, such as file uploads or signature fields.
