Portal settings define the link types, section display options, and section content types available when building and configuring portals in SmartSimple.
Link Types
The following link types are available when configuring links in the User Menu.
| Link Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Standard Link | Navigates the user to a specified internal SmartSimple page or external URL. |
| Report Link | Opens a SmartSimple report directly from the menu. |
| Universal Link | A flexible link type that can point to SmartSimple objects, reports, or external destinations. |
| SmartSimple Page Link | Navigates to a specific page within the SmartSimple interface. |
| Separator | Adds a visual divider between link groups in the menu. |
Section Display Options
The following display options control how a section appears on a portal page.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Full Width | Section spans the full width of the portal page. |
| Half Width – Left | Section occupies the left half of the page. |
| Half Width – Right | Section occupies the right half of the page. |
| Hidden | Section is present in configuration but not visible to users. |
Section Content Types
The section content types below are based on standard SmartSimple portal configuration.
| Content Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Banner | Displays an image at the top of the portal, commonly used to put a client's logo or brand messaging at the top. |
| Chart | Displays an available Report Chart to be included in the portal section. |
| Custom Link | Displays the contents of the linked page into this section and can be used to link to specific pages/screens within SmartSimple. |
| List View/List View – Mixed Record Type | Allows you to insert an existing list view from elsewhere in SmartSimple. |
| Media Files | Shows media such as an image or video in this section. |
| Section Container | Allows you to create a container with which you can then have additional sections inside. A common example would be to have a section that has a background image that then displays shortcuts within it. |
| Section in Tabs | Allows you to create tabbed sections that each contains its own content. |
| Shortcuts | A section specifically to contain shortcut links to other areas or content within SmartSimple. |
| Text Template | Displays static text as content. |
