Configure Data Exchange sending and receiving settings between SmartSimple instances to enable sending and unpacking of incoming packages. This includes setting up sending details such as the alias, post URL, and export workflow for each receiving instance, as well as receiving details such as the acceptance key, decryption key, and source URL for each sending instance. Automatic unpacking of incoming packages can also be configured for a designated user account. For field definitions, see Data Exchange Settings Reference.

Configure Exchange Settings
To configure exchange settings for sending a package to another instance:
- Click the Menu icon in the upper navigation bar, and then select the relevant UTA/module from the Applications drop-down menu.
- Click the Configuration Settings gear icon for the UTA/Module.
- Click the Connectivity tab.
- Locate the Exchange Settings section, and specify a custom field to record acknowledgements indicating when the receiving party has unpacked the package. This field is populated on the sending instance once the package is unpacked on the receiving instance.
- Click the Sending List to view the list of instances to which packages will be sent.
- Click the hyperlink in the Alias column to access the Sending to Settings page for an existing recipient, or click the New Sending tab to configure settings for a new recipient.
Set Sending to Settings
To configure the sending details for a recipient organization:
- Enter the required Sending to information:
- Alias – Enter the alias of the receiving instance.
- Id – Enter an arbitrary two-digit number unique to the receiving instance.
- Description – Enter the full company name of the receiving instance.
- Post URL – Enter the full URL of the receiving instance, including the “http://” prefix.
- Export Workflow – Specify the workflow to be executed when the package is exported.
- Click Save.
Copy Sending to Settings
Use this process when you need to modify an alias while retaining all other Data Exchange settings. The alias is a primary key in the exchange settings and cannot be overwritten directly.
To copy existing Sending to Settings to a new alias:
- Locate the Sending to Settings section for the alias you want to modify.
- Click the Copy button at the bottom of the settings screen.
- Enter the new alias and click OK.
The Sending to Settings for the new alias are saved with all previous settings duplicated.
Set Receiving Settings
To configure the receiving instance settings:
- Configure the details of the sending instance in the Receiving From Settings.
- Configure the Acceptance Key, Decryption Key, and Source URL based on the sending instance. Transfer the decryption key from the sending instance into the receiving instance.
- Uncheck the three Unpack Rules.
- Configure the Company & People Import Settings to import all companies and contacts.
- Click any Save button.
Enable Automatic Unpacking of Incoming Packages (optional)
Use this process to configure all incoming packages to be unpacked automatically.
To enable automatic unpacking:
- Click the Menu icon in the upper navigation bar, and then select the relevant UTA/module under Applications.
- Click the Configuration Settings gear icon for the UTA/Module.
- Locate the Exchange Settings section, and enable the automatic unpack option.
- Designate a user account that the system will use to perform the package unpacking.
Once enabled, all received packages are automatically unpacked and appear in the corresponding UTA/module.
