Split Screen divides the page into two panels so users can view a selected record alongside a list view or a related record without leaving the page. It is available for specific list views in the system, including those that display custom fields. It is also available within individual Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Universal Tracking Application (UTA)/module records, based on the user's role-based permissions.

When to Use Split Screen
Use Split Screen when:
- Reviewing records from a list view and the full list should stay visible while moving between individual records.
- Viewing the Customer or Owner organization or user profile tied to a Level 1 UTA/module record without navigating away from that record.
- A reviewer needs to see a parent record alongside a Level 2 or Level 3 record, such as viewing a parent record while completing a review.
- Internal staff need to see a parent record alongside a Level 2 or Level 3 record, such as viewing a parent record while reviewing a grant report.
How Split Screen Works
Split Screen behaves differently depending on where it is used.
List Views
Split Screen is enabled by default for list views in the system. An Enable Split Screen icon appears at the top of the page, above the list view.
This icon divides the screen into two sections when selected, with the list view remaining visible on the left. The icon then changes to indicate it can hide Split Screen mode.
Any record selected from the left list displays on the right side of the screen.
Level 1 UTA/module Records
Within an individual Level 1 UTA/module record, Split Screen lets a user view either the customer record or the owner record associated with the Level 1 record.
The show/hide menu item is available when the user can access the owner and customer fields on the page, based on the permissions of those standard fields. The user must also have the appropriate role permissions in the Contact/Company Security Matrix to view the corresponding organization or user profile.
Level 2 and Level 3 UTA/module Records
Within individual Level 2 and Level 3 UTA/module records, Split Screen is governed by the Enable View Parent permission in the UTA/module Feature and Function Permissions.
To use this feature without granting access to the full Level 1 parent record, this permission can be combined with a system feature permission in Global Settings. The Feature Permission tab in System Feature Permissions includes an option called Disable Hierarchical Navigation. This option prevents the hierarchical breadcrumb navigation from displaying for the selected roles.
A typical scenario is a reviewer viewing a review form: the parent record can be displayed in split screen while navigation to the complete parent record is prevented.
Security Implications
- In list views, Split Screen is enabled by default and available to any user who can open the list view.
- For Level 1 UTA/module records, viewing the customer or owner profile requires access to the owner and customer fields and the appropriate role in the Contact/Company Security Matrix.
- For Level 2 and Level 3 UTA/module records, the Enable View Parent permission controls whether a role can view the parent record.
- Combining Enable View Parent with Disable Hierarchical Navigation lets a role view a parent record in split screen without navigating to the full parent record, which is useful for limiting reviewers to only the context they need.
