System Logs Reference

System Logs lists all logging mechanisms available in SmartSimple Cloud. Logs are accessible through the standard interface by system administrators. Some logs may also be made accessible to non-administrator users. Certain logs are available for export through the Report Builder feature, as indicated in the Available to Export column. Some logs depend on features or configurations and are not captured automatically unless explicitly enabled, as indicated in the Requires Configuration to Enable column.

Who: System administrators who manage and monitor SmartSimple Cloud instance activity.

Access Logs

Log Description Requires Configuration to Enable Available to Export
Access Modification

Records changes to a user's access, capturing the following actions:

  • Activation and deactivation of user
  • Change to user role
  • Password resets

Failed Login Records failed authentication attempts. No No
Login Session

Documents successful logins and user sessions, capturing the following attributes:

  • Session start time
  • Session end time
  • User's originating IP address
  • User's browser agent

Primary Authentication Controller Login Records user logins originating from the Primary Authentication Controller feature, which enables users to authenticate across SmartSimple instances. These logs are automatically captured when the Primary Authentication Controller is configured and used for inter-instance authentication. No Yes
User Activity History Records each individual page request made during a user's active session. No No

System Configuration Logs

Log Description Requires Configuration to Enable Available to Export
Field Deletion Records the deletion of custom fields. The previous states of each field are preserved to allow restoration if necessary. No No
Field Modification Records changes made to custom field configurations, including field formatting and access permissions. The previous states of each field are preserved to allow restoration if necessary. No No
General System Modification

Records changes made to various system areas, capturing modifications to the following:

  • Reports
  • Workflows

Security Matrix Modification Records changes made to security matrix constructs that define the access control permissions of user roles to UTA/module records, companies, and users. No No

Operational Logs

API Usage - SmartConnect RESTful Records API calls made to the SmartConnect RESTful API receiver. No No
API Usage - SOAP Web Service Records API calls made to the SOAP Web Service API receiver. No No
Integration Usage - Data Exchange Records activity related to the use of the Data Exchange feature, which facilitates the exchange of records between instances. No No
Integration Usage - E-Signature Records activity related to the use of the E-Signature feature, which sends E-Signing requests to supported partner systems. No No
Message Queue Records email messages generated and dispatched from the system. No No
Privacy and Security Policy Agreement Records user acceptance of system privacy and security policies. No Yes

Record Modification

Records changes made to various records, including UTA/module records, companies, and users. The track changes option must be enabled for each individual field that requires change history tracking. Captures changes to the following attributes:
