Common input types for SmartSimple custom fields include selection, text box, and upload fields, each with its own configuration options.
It is recommended that global administrators enable the new syntax. Locate the System Options section in Global Settings, and toggle Enable New Variable Syntax on.
Lookup - Autocomplete Options
The Lookup - Autocomplete Options input type presents a collection of values in an Ajax lookup box. It supports selecting more than one value and can look up values from an external source.

Select Many - Checkboxes
The Select Many - Checkboxes input type presents values as checkboxes so users can select multiple values. View mode shows the selected values separated by semicolons. The number of columns sets how the values display.

Text Box - Email
The Text Box - Email input type is a text box for email addresses. When the record is saved, an entry that does not include an @ symbol followed by text containing a period produces a validation error.

Number Format Behavior
- The Number Format setting applies in view mode and when values appear in a Web Page View, report, MS Word merge, or list view.
- Number formatting, such as comma and currency, applies in edit mode only after you toggle Apply Format in Edit Mode on in the custom field settings. Number Precision rounding applies at all times, regardless of the number format and the Apply Format in Edit Mode setting.
- Percent formatting also has two other options: Progress Bar and Radial Progress Bar. Both options display only when the field is not editable. Input is always numeric.
- Any currency defined by ISO 4217 can display using its three-letter code. For example, Currency-JPY displays an entered value of 12 as the Japanese Yen symbol followed by 12.
Text Box - Phone Number
The Text Box - Phone Number input type is an input field for phone numbers with automatic formatting.

Text Box - Text Multiple Lines
The Text Box - Text Multiple Lines input type is a text box that holds one or more lines of text. The field supports up to 16,777,215 (2^24 - 1) characters.

Upload - Image
The Upload - Image input type displays an uploaded image. Any image file type can be uploaded, up to a maximum file size of 2 GB, which is also the default. Set the height and width to limit the display size; otherwise the image shows at its original size.

Upload - Multiple Files Storage
The Upload - Multiple Files Storage input type stores multiple files in a single field. Files can be uploaded individually or in groups. This field type stores uploaded documents, uploaded media, and documents created with the Web Page View field using the Store to Server option.

File Size and Supported Types
- Files up to 2 GB can be uploaded to Upload - Multiple Files Storage and Upload - Single File Storage.
- Indexable file types for search are Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe PDF, HTML, and RTF. PDF files must be text-searchable.

PDF Metadata Attributes
For PDF files stored in a Multiple Files field, the Extra Columns field, located in the Classic Options tab of the field configuration, can display metadata in the list view. Enter the column headings separated by commas, then two colons, then the field codes separated by commas with no spaces. These attributes show only for PDF files.

Is Encrypted returns Encrypted when the document has the Content Copying or Content Copying or Extraction security restriction.
