User and contact fields and settings define the standard fields available on all user and contact records in SmartSimple, the access types used to control login permissions, and the configuration categories available under the User tab in Global Settings.
Standard People Fields
The following standard fields are available on all user and contact records. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) on the record form are required and must be completed before the record can be saved.

| First Name | The first name of the individual. |
| Last Name | The last name of the individual. |
| Title | The business title of the individual. |
| Prefix/Suffix | The prefix and suffix of the contact. |
| Phone/Extension | The direct phone line for the individual and their extension. |
| The email address of the individual. An email address is required to enable a user to log in to the system. | |
| Primary Contact | Check this box to indicate that this individual is the primary contact at their organization. |
| Company | The organization to which this individual is associated. Changing this field moves the individual to another organization. |
| Address | If different from the individual's organization, the street address of the individual. |
| Address 2 | An additional address line, such as an apartment or suite number. |
| City | If different from the individual's organization, the city of the individual. |
| State | If different from the individual's organization, the state of the individual. |
| Country | If different from the individual's organization, the country of the individual. |
| Postal Code | If different from the individual's organization, the postal code of the individual. |
Access Types
The following access types are available in the Roles and Access window. Access Types are visible after enabling Advanced Options in the Roles and Access window.
| Access Type | Description |
|---|---|
| User Access | Grants login access to the system based on the user's membership in specific roles. |
| API Access | An account type used to access data in a SmartSimple instance via an API (Application Programming Interface). Does not provide access to the SmartSimple interface directly. |
| No Access | The user cannot log in to the system. If the user is currently logged in, they retain access until their next login attempt. |
| Global Administrator | The user can manage the entire organization hierarchy, including creating users and additional Global Administrators, establishing sub-organizations, uploading organization and contact data, and creating roles and workflows. |
User and Contact Settings
The following setting categories are available on the Users tab in Global Settings. To access these settings, navigate to Global Settings and click the Users tab.

| SmartCheck Validation | SmartCheck validations to attach to form buttons for users. |
| Signup Pages | Manage external web pages where contacts can self-register. |
| Duplicate Check | Define which fields are compared with existing contacts to check for duplicates when adding new users. |
| User Groups | Create groups of users which will assist with assigning as associations to UTA/module records. |
| Default Personal Settings | Manage default settings for first-time login users. |
| P3 Script Editor | Create and manage JavaScript-based functions that link to the Platform3 Object Model to be executed on the server-side. |
| List Views | Configure the list view for user and contact records. |
| Search Filters | Manage system list view filters for staff and contacts. |
| Lookup List Views | Configure the fields displayed when using an Ajax lookup on users; also determines the list view for the Organization standard field lookup dialog. |
| Interaction List Views | Create and manage list views for staff interaction records. |
| Form Completion Indicator Permissions | Configure permission to show the form completion indicator based on type and status combination. |
| User Import Wizard | Upload a file to import data for staff and contacts. |
| Deleted Users | View, restore, or purge recently deleted users and contacts. |
| Deleted User Addresses | View deleted addresses for staff and contacts. |
| Delete Redirect Template | Customize the landing page displayed after a staff or contact record is deleted. |
