Configure Feature and Function Permissions

Feature and Function Permissions control the visibility and functionality of features, actions, and interface components for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 records within a UTA/module in SmartSimple. Permissions are organized into tabs, and global administrators can apply them globally or restrict them to specific roles using the optional Logic and Role fields. When to Use Feature and Function Permissions

Use Feature and Function Permissions when:

  • Enabling audit and compliance features, such as field history, reader log history, or workflow history, to support reporting or troubleshooting.
  • Enabling batch operations, such as batch updates or batch role assignments, for staff who manage large numbers of records at once.
  • Simplifying the interface for specific roles by hiding tabs or menu options that are not relevant to their workflow.
  • Enabling copy for Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 records where those features are not available by default.

Access Feature and Function Permissions

Global administrators can access Feature and Function Permissions through Tracking Applications or the Configuration Settings gear for a UTA/module.

Access through Tracking Applications

To access Feature and Function Permissions through Tracking Applications:

  1. Click the System Administration gear in the upper navigation bar, and then select Tracking Applications from the drop-down menu.
  2. Click the edit [pencil] icon for the UTA/module to configure.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Locate the Security Settings section, and then click Feature and Function Permissions.

Access through Configuration Settings

To access Feature and Function Permissions through the Configuration Settings gear for a UTA/module:

  1. Click the Menu icon in the upper navigation bar, and then select the relevant UTA/module from the Application drop-down menu.
  2. Click the Configuration Settings gear.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Locate the Security Settings section, and then click Feature and Function Permissions.
