This reference defines the settings available on each signup page configuration section in SmartSimple.

General
The following settings are available in the General section of a signup page configuration.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Signup Page Name | Signup Page Name is the internal name for this signup page. It is used to distinguish it from other pages. It is not visible to registrants. |
| Associated Organization | Associated Organization specifies where new users and organizations created through this page are placed in the organizational hierarchy. This is typically an external organization such as Web Registrants. Container organizations should be designated as such. |
| Description | Description is an internal description not visible to registrants. It is used to distinguish signup pages when linking a user signup page to an organization signup page. Include the purpose of the page and any notes for other administrators. |
Activation and Security
The following settings are available in the Activation and Security section of a signup page configuration.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Activate Page | Activate Page controls whether the signup page is accessible. If disabled, users who attempt to access the page see an error message instructing them to contact the system administrator. |
| Enable Field Security Token | Enable Field Security Token enhances signup page security by validating submitted fields against expected values. This setting is recommended and should typically be enabled. |
| Standard | Standard provides the signup page URL to share with users who want to register. Click View to preview the page or Copy to copy the URL. |
| Email Broadcast | Email Broadcast is an alternate URL for updating existing users in combination with the email broadcast tool. This link is not commonly used. |
Signup Options
The following settings are available in the Signup Options section of a signup page configuration.

| Duplicate Check Field | Duplicate Check Field selects one or more fields for the duplicate check. Email is the default for user pages; Name is the default for organization pages. When multiple fields are added to one condition, AND logic applies, meaning all fields must match for a duplicate to be flagged. To use OR logic, add a separate condition using the Add Duplicate Check Condition button. |
| Form Submission Behavior | Form Submission Behavior controls what happens when a duplicate is detected. The default on a user signup page is Create new user only if no existing match found. The default on an organization signup page is Create new organization only if no existing match found. |
| Duplicate Restriction Message | Duplicate Restriction Message is a custom message displayed when the duplicate check detects a match. The default message is: A user/organization matching the information you entered already exists. Please contact your system administrator. |
| Access Type | Access Type applies to user signup pages only. Set to User Access to grant new users login capabilities. This applies to new users only; the access type of existing users is not affected. |
| User Signup | User Signup applies to organization signup pages only. Select Single User to create one user alongside the organization, or Multiple Users to create multiple sets of users alongside the organization. |
| User/Multiple User Signup Page | User/Multiple User Signup Page applies to organization signup pages only. It selects the user signup page or pages to link to this organization signup page. The user signup page appears within the organization signup page in its own section, below the organization details. |
| SmartCheck Validation | SmartCheck Validation selects a SmartCheck validation to run on form submission. When an organization signup page has a linked user signup page, the SmartCheck validation from the user signup page is automatically included. |
| Attach Workflow | Attach Workflow selects a workflow to run when a new user or organization registers. Workflows on signup pages typically notify internal staff of a new registration or trigger automated tasks. |
| Attach Policies | Attach Policies applies to user signup pages only. It selects a privacy policy that users must accept before completing registration. The policy is displayed before the registration form. Policies attached here should not include role- or country-based restrictions because they must be accessible without login. A policy can also be attached to the login page to be enforced on first login instead. |
| Default Country | Default Country pre-selects a country in the Country field when the form loads. This is useful when most registrants are from the same country. Registrants can change the selection. |
| Default State | Default State pre-selects a state or province in the state field when the form loads. This is useful when most registrants are from the same state or province. Registrants can change the selection. |
| Default Status | Default Status selects the status assigned to the user or organization upon registration. For example, a Newly Registered status can be assigned initially and changed to Active after vetting. |
| Categories | Categories applies to organization signup pages only. It selects the categories assigned to new organizations. Options are Add, Remove, or Update categories. |
| Roles | Roles applies to user signup pages only. It selects the roles assigned to new users. Options are Add, Remove, or Update roles. |
| Page Layout | Page Layout controls the signup page layout. Default is recommended and ensures the latest template is always used. Custom allows HTML editing of the signup page but requires manual updates after system upgrades to maintain functionality. |
Signup Page Content
NOTE This section is visible on organization signup pages only.
| Setting | Description |

| Page Title | Page Title is text added next to the logo in the page header, such as Registration. It is typically left blank. |
| Company/Contact Section Title | Company/Contact Section Title is text displayed above the organization or user data entry fields. Organization signup pages typically use Organization Information. User signup pages typically use User Information. |
| Instructions Title | Instructions Title is text displayed inside the instruction box above the Instructions Content. It is typically Registration. |
| Instructions Content | Instructions Content is custom instructions to help users complete the signup page. For example: Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are required. For assistance, contact [email address]. |
| Enable Same Address Button | Enable Same Address Button applies to organization signup pages with a linked user signup page only. It adds a button that copies the organization address fields into the user address fields, saving time when both addresses are the same. |
| Same Address Button Label | Same Address Button Label sets the label on the same address button. The default is Copy Address. |
| Submit Button Label | Submit Button Label sets the label on the form submission button. |
| Display Login Link on Page | Display Login Link on Page displays a login link on the signup page. It is used when a user is invited to contribute to an application using a personal email but wants to use an existing account under a different email address. |
| Enable Email Confirmation | Enable Email Confirmation applies to user signup pages only. It is typically left disabled. When enabled, it displays an email confirmation field alongside the standard email field. |
Confirmation Page Content
NOTE This section is visible on user signup pages only.

| Confirmation Page Title | Confirmation Page Title is large text displayed after the user submits the form. It is typically Registration Complete. |
| Confirmation Page Content | Confirmation Page Content is smaller text displayed below the title after submission. It is typically: Thank you for registering. Activation instructions have been emailed to you. |
| Link Text | Link Text is text for a link to the login page. It is typically Log in here or Visit youralias.smartsimple.com. |
| Link URL | Link URL is URL for the login page link. It is typically /s_Login.jsp. |
Input Form
The following settings are available in the Input Form section of a signup page configuration.

| Available Fields | Available Fields is the list of fields available for the signup page. Drag fields into the Selected Fields area to include them on the page. |
| Selected Fields | Fields in this area appear on the signup page. Reorder fields using drag and drop. To remove a field, hover over it and click the x button. |
Verification Settings
NOTE These settings are available on organization signup pages only.

| Verification Service | Verification Service selects the internal or external verification service. Internal Organization Lookup allows users to search for and join an existing organization. External services such as IRS, CRA, and ABN allow users to search a third-party database to verify and populate organization information. |
| Lookup Category | Lookup Category applies to Internal Organization Lookup only. It selects the categories of organizations that appear in search results. This is typically limited to charitable or research organization categories. |
| Lookup Status | Lookup Status applies to Internal Organization Lookup only. It selects the statuses of organizations that appear in search results. This is typically limited to Active or approved statuses. |
| Limit Searchable Fields to ID Only | Limit Searchable Fields to ID Only restricts the search to the organization ID field only, excluding name, state, and other fields. For example, when enabled for an IRS search, only the EIN number is searchable. |
| Limit Results to US Based Organizations Only | Limit Results to US Based Organizations Only applies to IRS searches only. It restricts search results to organizations based in the United States. |
| Search Instructions (HTML) | Search Instructions (HTML) are instructions displayed on the search screen. Click Sample Instructions to load default text, then update as needed. |
| Result Instructions (HTML) | Result Instructions (HTML) are instructions displayed on the results screen after a search. Click Sample Instructions to load default text, then update as needed. |
| Disable Automatic Field Population | When an organization is selected from the verification service, matching fields on the form are automatically populated. Check fields here if they are absent from your signup page to prevent errors when the verification service tries to populate fields that do not exist. |
| Additional Automatic Field Population | Additional Automatic Field Population applies to IRS only. It maps IRS data fields to custom fields on your signup page. Click Add Mapping Field to add a row, select a Mapping Field from the drop-down menu, then select the corresponding custom field. The custom field must also be in the Selected Fields list. |
| Exclude Foundation(s) | Exclude Foundation(s) applies to IRS only. It selects types of foundations to exclude from search results. |
| Exclude Subsection(s) | Exclude Subsection(s) applies to IRS only. It selects subsections to exclude from search results. |
Templates
IMPORTANT Customizing signup page HTML is not recommended. Custom templates do not receive automatic updates during system upgrades and may require manual revisions to maintain functionality.
NOTE This section is visible only when Page Layout is set to Custom on the Signup Options section.
